Requirements for candidates and conditions for obtaining citizenship
Citizens of the Republic of Armenia will be able to have Russian citizenship if they fulfill a number of mandatory requirements. First you need to obtain the status of a person temporarily residing in the country. At this stage, the Armenian must have a place of residence (having his own housing or registration with relatives - Russian citizens) - this is the main condition.
Another important condition is knowledge of the Russian language at the proper level. Its successful completion is confirmed by passing the exam and receiving a certificate. The law also prescribes the presence of a minimum amount of knowledge on Russian history and legislation, which is necessary for normal integration into the social and cultural life of the country. Instead of passing the exam, a native of the Republic of Armenia can present a diploma of education issued by one of the Russian educational institutions or the USSR (before 1991), as well as a document on education from other countries with a high mark in the Russian language. In addition, you must submit to the migration service:
- passport with a notarized translation;
- migration card;
- marriage certificate (for Armenians involved in it);
- a certificate from a medical institution confirming the absence of infectious (HIV) and mental diseases;
- photos;
- receipt of payment of state duty.
You will also need certificates stating that the candidate has no problems with the law (no criminal record) and has undergone fingerprinting.
Ways to obtain a Russian passport
Every day the relationship between Armenia and Russia is only improving. All this leads to the emergence of a large number of Armenians who express a desire to obtain a Russian passport. This can only be done in two ways:
- on general terms;
- according to a simplified procedure.
Each of them has its own nuances, knowing which can significantly simplify and speed up the procedure for obtaining citizenship.
General procedure
Every resident of Armenia has the right to apply for Russian citizenship. First of all, he needs to obtain the status of a foreigner temporarily residing in the Russian Federation. To do this, the Armenian needs to collect and present the following important documents:
- Certificate from law enforcement agencies confirming no criminal record.
- A paper confirming the availability of optimal housing conditions.
- A certificate from a medical institution confirming your state of health and the absence of serious diseases.
In order for an Armenian to obtain Russian citizenship in 2021, it is necessary to undergo fingerprinting. In addition, it is important to successfully pass several exams that will confirm knowledge of history, the Russian language and the laws of the Russian Federation. Some of them can be waived only if the Armenian applying for citizenship received education in educational institutions in Russia.
Before receiving the status of a full citizen of the Russian Federation, you need to properly obtain a residence permit. This document is analogous to a passport; obtaining it takes quite a long time. Therefore, you need to submit all the necessary documents in advance and wait for a decision on your issue. While living in Russia, an Armenian is obliged to annually present documents confirming the availability of stable and legal income, as well as confirm his presence in the country.
Simplified procedure
Obtaining Russian citizenship is a long and difficult procedure, but there are often cases when an Armenian has the right to receive the desired document in an expedited manner. All of them are clearly stated in the legislation. In order to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner, an Armenian citizen must prove the presence of one of the following circumstances:

- The presence of close relatives who are full citizens of Russia.
- Previous existence of USSR citizenship.
- The Armenian has a higher education and is an indispensable specialist in one of the fields of activity.
If a resident of Armenia has at least one compliance with the listed circumstances, then he is immediately included in the list of persons who have the opportunity to obtain Russian citizenship through an accelerated procedure.
Obtaining Russian citizenship for citizens of Armenia in a simplified manner in 2021 is subject to a thorough knowledge of the language and fluency in it. Without this factor, he will not be able to apply for citizenship under the simplified scheme, even if there are several suitable circumstances.
Some citizens of Armenia have the opportunity to obtain expedited processing of documents without a five-year residence permit. This category includes:
- Persons with a minor son or daughter who are citizens of the Russian Federation. This right only applies in the absence of the other parent.
