As befits a carefree beach destination, Tunisia is demonstrably loyal to foreign tourists: the vast majority of citizens of other countries do not require a visa to vacation in the country. Among them are Russians who can stay in Tunisia without a visa for 3 months. To cross the border you will not need any additional documents other than a passport. This regime can be used by those arriving in Tunisia in any way: by direct charter plane or regular flight with a transfer, as well as by ferry from Europe.

Documents for a visa to Tunisia

Required documents to enter the country:

  1. International passport
You must have an international passport valid for 3 months from the date of entry into the country.
  2. Migration card
You need a completed migration card in 1 copy. Card forms are usually handed out on board flights to Tunisia. If this does not happen, they can be picked up at the counters in the arrivals hall.
  3. Children
For children vacationing without their parents (as part of a children's group, with distant relatives, friends of their parents, and so on), they need a notarized power of attorney in the name of the accompanying person.
  4. At passport control, a stamp is placed on the international passport and on the migration card, half of which is torn off, and the other half is placed in the passport. It is better not to lose it, as you will need to present it when leaving the country. If half of the card is lost, you must fill out the form again (only the required half) - you can pick them up at the check-in counters for your flight or in the departure hall, before going through passport control.

The requirement for a 3-month “reserve” of a foreign passport is largely formal. In practice, its validity period should overlap the date of expected return from the country. If questions arise from the passport control officer, in the vast majority of cases it is enough to present confirmation of your hotel reservation and return air ticket.

To Tunisia with a child

Tunisia can be considered an excellent place to relax with children. In order to go there with a child, unlike a number of other countries, you do not need to collect a whole package of documents and waste time copying them. The rules for the entry of children from Russia into Tunisia were simplified several months ago. The consent of the second parent to visit this state is no longer required.

If a child crosses the border without parents (with distant relatives, acquaintances and friends of the parents, or as part of any group), then to enter the country you will need a power of attorney, certified by a notary, issued in the name of the person who will accompany the child. The power of attorney must indicate the country (in this case Tunisia) to which the child is traveling and the period of stay. In addition to the parent's permission, you will need your own document to prove the child's identity.

children

For minor children, permission to cross the border is issued only for 1 visit, with the dates of entry into Tunisia and departure from the country, which is specified in a notarized document. If a document is issued by a notary of another country, then there must be a translation into Russian. A child can return to Russia even without notarized permission. If he travels to Tunisia accompanied by 1 parent, then the child’s birth certificate and the foreign passport of the accompanying relative will be sufficient.

Violation of the terms of stay

For each overstay week, a fine of 10 TND will be charged. It is paid at the airport upon departure; the exact amount will be reported by the passport control officer. You should purchase the required number of fiscal stamps for 10 TND at any of the banking kiosks in the departure hall. The stamps are pasted into the passport and canceled with a departure stamp. Prices on the page are for January 2021.

It is better not to overstay, as next time you may be denied entry into the country.

New entry conditions

Tunisian authorities have introduced a number of new measures for all travelers entering the country from February 1, 2021.

Given the development of the Covid-19 pandemic in the world, from February 1, 2021, new conditions for entry into Tunisia will come into force for all travelers arriving from abroad, including local residents who left Tunisia.

It is required to present a negative PCR test result taken 72 hours before entering Tunisia and undergo a 7-day mandatory quarantine in one of the hotels from the list determined by the authorities. At the end of 7 days, another test is performed.

Accommodation and testing costs are the responsibility of the traveler, who will be required to provide a hotel reservation from the list below when boarding a flight to Tunisia.

We remind you that the cost of the test, which must be taken after 7 days, is 209 Tunisian dinars. The dough is ready within 48 hours.

It should also be noted that travelers from the UK, South Africa and Brazil can no longer enter Tunisia until further notice.

General information about the conditions of entry into Tunisia

In order to come to this country, a Russian only needs a foreign passport. In this case, it does not matter what type it will be - both a new biometric passport and an old-style document will do. The main condition is its validity period. It must be at least three months, counting from the date of expected departure from the state.

You also need to take care of visas in advance and check if there are free pages for stamps. If they run out, your visa may be denied.

The first type of document serves the owner for 10 years from the date of issue, and the second - 2 times less, only 5 years.

Moreover, flight attendants help with filling out if the tourist has any questions. There are other nuances regarding the validity of a passport to Tunisia.

Consular fee - 2000 RUR

The consular fee is 2000 RUB, paid at the consular department when submitting documents.

Consulate opening hours

Documents are accepted from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 15:00, and ready-made visas are issued from 12:00 to 15:00. There is no pre-registration. The period required for visa processing by the consular department usually ranges from 3 to 7 days.

Valid term of a visa

The visa is valid for entry within 1 month from the date of issue at the consulate. The duration of stay in the country is from 30 to 90 days; in practice, the embassy issues visas for the duration of the trip and is extremely reluctant to issue visas for more than 30 days.

Visa to Tunisia - applying for a visa to Tunisia yourself: documents and cost

When planning to travel across countries and continents, make sure that your passport will be valid during the trip and whether it will satisfy all the requirements of the rules of the countries you are traveling to.

Having planned a vacation and chosen the country to visit, you should understand that the validity of a foreign passport for a trip is not limited to the date specified in the document.

Information can only be entered into old-style parental passports; it will not be possible to enter a child into a new biometric document.

When visiting the Republic of Turkey, your passport must have a validity period of more than four months.

You need to know that Russians will be able to visit this state with a foreign passport if they have a special tourist voucher, which obliges the travel agency to ensure the client’s vacation. The length of stay in this case cannot exceed 90 days.

Where to apply for a visa to Tunisia?

Any documents not related to a tourist visit are processed strictly at the consular department of the Embassy in Moscow, and only with personal submission of an application. There is no need to make an appointment; everything takes place in the format of a live queue and conversation with a consular officer.

The Turskidki portal offers its services in preparing the necessary documents, namely:

  • Filling out a visa application form by a competent employee based on the data provided;
  • Obtaining health insurance from agencies verified and licensed in the African region;
  • Consultations on collecting required certificates, etc.

The standard processing time for a Tunisia visa is from 7 working days to a calendar month , depending on the workload of the Embassy.

How much does a Tunisia visa cost for Russians?

You only need to pay for work and student documents, but visa prices vary. For example, if an invited employee travels with children, then registration for each child over 12 years of age will cost 50% less , and children under 5 years of age are exempt from paying any consular fees , regardless of the visa subtype.

The fees themselves are accepted at the cash desk of the consular section. For the convenience of applicants, all fees are paid in rubles in cash . Bank transfers and other non-cash payments are not accepted to avoid fraud.

For 2021, the embassy's rates are as follows:

Document type Price from (RUB)
Work Visa 5000
student visa 3500

The indicated amount already includes all service fees, but due to the unstable exchange rate of the Russian currency, the fixed tariff has been cancelled. The exact amount must be found out by calling the consular department of the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia in Russia.

Tunisia has closed its land borders and stopped passenger flights. As an exception, evacuation flights are allowed to return tourists home. The country has also imposed a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am.

According to Nezhi Guider, head of the Tunisian National Tourism Office, in Russia and the CIS countries, travelers who purchased package tours and arrived in Tunisia on charter flights are exempt from these procedures. They will be served in accordance with the health protocol for organized groups (cohorting).

Such special rules for organized tourists were introduced at the end of August 2021. Since then, more than five thousand travelers from Belarus have managed to relax in this way in Tunisia, says Nezhi Guider. Not a single case of COVID-19 has been recorded among them.
