How to obtain a residence permit and necessary documents
A citizen of the Russian Federation or Ukraine who plans to stay in the Czech Republic for more than three months must apply for a residence permit. To do this, you need to prepare a certain package of documents, which include:
- the applicant's foreign passport, which has a validity period of at least 12 months at the time of applying for a residence permit. You should also provide a photocopy of your passport;
- basis for legal stay on the territory of the Czech Republic;
- 4 photographs (passport format, color, without corners or frames). It is necessary to ensure that the photographs strictly comply with the established requirements;
- grounds for requesting immigration status. For example, students must provide an invitation from the higher educational institution to which they are admitted, and participants in the family reunification program must provide an invitation from their Czech relatives;
- bank statements and other documents confirming the sufficient wealth of potential immigrants;
- confirmation from the state register of ownership of Czech real estate or a long-term lease agreement (for at least 12 months);
- a certificate from a Czech state clinic stating that the applicant has a satisfactory state of health and is not a carrier of socially dangerous diseases. The document can also be obtained from a private medical institution, but you must first inquire whether it has the appropriate accreditation;
- confirmation of marital status (if necessary);
- a certificate of no criminal record in Russia or Ukraine;
- insurance policy;
- checks, receipts confirming that all necessary administrative fees have been paid.
Documentation must be submitted to the Czech immigration service translated into Czech. It is better to do this in a specialized translation agency, which must have the appropriate accreditation. All translations must have an apostille. Any documents that were issued within the European Union do not need to be translated or certified. Quite often, Czech immigration officers ask for additional documents. For example, this could be additional proof of income.
A minor who receives a residence permit in the Czech Republic together with his parents will need a birth certificate. If only one parent is present, the other parent will be required to consent to his offspring receiving immigration status in the Czech Republic. The consent is translated into Czech and certified by a notary. If the present parent cannot provide such a document for certain reasons, then he should provide appropriate argumentation in the form of a death certificate of the second parent, recognition by the court as incompetent, etc.
