Required documents to obtain Schengen category C:

List of documents

To apply for a visa yourself, you need to prepare all the documents from the list:

• Hungary visa application form, filled out in clear, legible handwriting. For a minor or incompetent person, the form must be filled out by a legal representative. The form is freely available on the official website of the embassy.
  
• A foreign passport that expires only 3 months after returning home. In addition, there must be at least 2 blank pages.
• Color photo for standard documents.
• Medical insurance issued for the entire period of stay abroad. The amount of coverage should not be less than 30,000€. Each travel participant must be insured.
• Photocopy of your general passport (all completed pages will be required). For a child - a birth certificate.
• Minors require permission to travel from their parents. If a child travels with one of them, then the second one must write permission. If a minor is traveling without parents, both must sign the authorization. This paper is drawn up through a notary.

Related documents may also be required. To confirm the purpose of the visit: hotel reservation, invitation from a relative or employer. You can travel in your own car, but then when receiving a visa you must indicate this and submit documents for the car for traveling abroad.

It is necessary to prove your worth, which confirms your intentions to return home. For employees, this is a salary certificate or a bank account statement. Pensioners can submit a certificate of pension amount. For children, parents must write a sponsorship letter stating that they will bear all expenses. Photo requirements

When submitting documents to the consulate, you must provide 2 color photographs taken in the last six months and meeting the following requirements:

• size 3.5 x 4.5 cm;
• clear, contrasting, clean, without frames or ovals;
• background - white or light gray;
• strictly frontal view, gaze directed at the camera;
• the mouth is closed, a slight smile is allowed;
• if the applicant wears glasses, they can be left only if the frames are not too heavy and the eyes and facial features are clearly visible;
• hair cannot cover the face.

Hats must be removed. The exception is for those who wear them for religious reasons, and only if they do not cover the face.

One person can be present in the frame, even if we are talking about babies; there should also be no foreign objects in the photo. When submitting papers at visa centers, you can take a photo right there; consulates do not provide such services.

The length of the head from the chin to the crown is approximately 30 mm (70-80% of the area). The photo is taken from the front, the gaze is directed at the camera, there is no smile.

Consular fee – 35 €

The consular fee is 35 EUR and depends on the current exchange rate. When submitting documents to visa centers in Moscow, you will need to pay a service fee of 20 EUR, and in other regions - 30 EUR for each passport. An urgent visa costs 70 EUR. All services are paid in rubles at the current exchange rate; it is recommended to bring cash without change.

When applying at a consulate, the cost of a visa is 35 EUR, when submitting documents at a visa center - 35 EUR (consular fee) + 20/30 EUR (service fee).

Exempt from payment are close relatives of Russian citizens living in Hungary, members of official delegations, governments, parliaments, etc., students going to study, participants in youth sports events, disabled people and those who accompany them when necessary, as well as children under 6 years.

Registration deadlines

In the Russian Federation, it takes several days to obtain a short-term visa. During the suitable time for tourists (summer-autumn), due to the large number of applications, you have to wait up to 14 days for a visa. You can use the express registration service, but you will have to pay twice as much.

A work visa for a long period of stay in Hungary in 2021 can be issued within a few months. In exceptional cases, in case of problems with documentation, a response may follow after 6 months of consideration. Rapid preparation of documents takes place in one month.

In Ukraine, a short-term visa can be issued in 7–10 days. Long-term treatment can take up to two months.

Fingerprinting for a Hungary visa

To obtain a visa, you must submit biometric data, provided that they have not been submitted in the last 4 years and 11 months. Fingerprinting is carried out at consulates or visa centers where there is special equipment.

Children under 12 years of age, those people from whom it is impossible to obtain this data for physical reasons, as well as heads of state and other high-ranking officials are exempt from the procedure.

If over the past 5 years the traveler has changed his last name, first name, or the spelling of the data in the new passport has changed, then the fingerprints will have to be taken again.
