Advantages of Israeli citizenship for Russians

In Russia, an old Russian proverb is often used: “Where you were born, you fit in.” But it completely loses its wisdom when it comes to resettlement, or rather the return to their historical homeland of people with Jewish roots. Since its formation (1948), Israel has been promoting and successfully implementing one of the main foundations of the state - the gathering on Israeli soil of Jews scattered throughout the world. Therefore, repatriates here will receive help from the state and charitable foundations.

One price for the whole family

The cost of obtaining citizenship is the same for a family of 4 people. We have developed 2 packages of services, which you can familiarize yourself with in the “prices” section and choose what you need.

Obtaining citizenship as quickly as possible

The period for obtaining Israeli citizenship is from 3 days, and does not obligate permanent residence in Israel. The entire procedure is carried out in accordance with Israel's Law of Return.

Benefits of Israeli citizenship:

5 Receiving Darkon We receive the passport and give it to you.

What documents are required to obtain citizenship?

A complete list of documents required for obtaining Israeli citizenship can only be obtained at the consulate. And one of the important documents is a certificate of no criminal record, which must be obtained for each family member receiving citizenship, even for newborn children.

Without this certificate, the rest of the collected documents will not be accepted at the consulate, and if citizenship is obtained in Israel, the process of reviewing the documents may be very delayed.

All documents collected to obtain citizenship must be certified by a notary and translated into English, and preferably into Hebrew.

You need to have with you:

  • All birth certificates, including birth certificates of grandparents;
  • Photos of relatives;
  • Parents' marriage certificate;
  • Marriage certificates of grandparents of Jewish origin;
  • Work records;
  • Educational documents ranging from a school leaving certificate to diplomas of higher education and advanced training;
  • Documents of close relatives in Israel, if available.

Not a single document when accepted at the consulate when applying for Israeli citizenship will turn out to be superfluous or unnecessary.

Visa-free countries

Every year, the list of countries where the owner of a Darkon can enter without obtaining special permits only increases. According to the Henley Passport Index 2021, the Israeli passport ranks 25th in terms of freedom of movement, providing visa-free entry into 159 countries.

The holder of an Israeli international passport has the right to free entry into the Schengen zone states. The borders of the states of North and South America are open to him. For example, he can be in Canada, Mexico and Barbados 180 days out of 360.

To cross the US border, permission is required, but Israelis, unlike Russians, can count on obtaining a long-term visa for 10 years at once, while for Russian citizens a permit is open for no more than 3 years.

Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan can be visited without a visa and stay here for 90 days out of 180. Singapore is open for 30 days.

The concept of dual citizenship

Even if a person has two or in another state, in this case we cannot talk about dual citizenship. The legislation of our country will officially recognize you as a citizen exclusively of the Russian Federation with all the ensuing consequences.

Dual citizenship is the simultaneous presence of a person of citizenship (citizenship) of the Russian Federation and another state with which Russia has concluded an agreement on dual citizenship, while he has equal rights in both powers.

According to the Law “”, a citizen of Russia has the right to accept the citizenship of other states an unlimited number of times and will not be required to terminate Russian citizenship - he will remain a citizen of Russia until, at his own request, he formalizes his renunciation of Russian citizenship in the manner prescribed by law. However, such citizenship will be called second (or multiple, if the person has several foreign passports), but not double.

Disadvantages of Israeli citizenship

Every medal has a reverse side. In any state, positive aspects coexist with negative ones. Repatriates and immigrants note the following disadvantages of living in Israel.

  1. Constant threat from outside. Israel has very aggressive neighbors who are unfriendly towards the Jewish state. This creates a tense environment.
  2. The first point implies the need to take significant security measures. Fears of possible terrorist attacks are forcing authorities to be increasingly vigilant. Every Israeli citizen and foreigners are required to carry identification documents with them at all times.
  3. Excessive religiosity of the state, which leaves its mark on various spheres of life. Even secular Jews feel the influence of religious communities.
  4. High prices for housing and utilities. It is difficult for Israelis to buy a house and an apartment; most live in rented premises.
  5. Fulfillment of military service by both boys and girls. Military service lasts 3 years.
  6. Difficult climatic conditions. For some people, excessively hot summers and strong winds in winter become a real problem.

As you can see, there are many negative aspects. However, the flow of emigrants to Israel does not decrease every year. Since 2014, the flow of repatriates from Russia, both non-Jewish and Jewish, has increased. Over the past 5 years, the number of Russians who have left for permanent residence in Israel has exceeded 40 thousand.

Other ways

Other ways to obtain Israeli citizenship include:

  • refugee to Israel. Israel has not welcomed refugees since the days of the “Palestinian refugees.” However, the country accepts forced migrants who are truly in danger and only those who can document the need for such an act. The decision to issue citizenship on grounds of refugee is made on an individual basis;
  • special services to Israel in the field of science, economics, sports, politics and other areas of the country’s life may be the reason for issuing an Israeli passport;
  • acceptance of Judaism. The applicant is required to prove the purity of faith to a rabbinical court for a long time (at least three years), a thorough knowledge of the Torah as an encyclopedia of Judaism, passing an exam, and circumcision;
  • obtaining citizenship after completing military service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF or TsAGAL). Service life of one year or more. If it so happens that a soldier died during service, then his parents can apply for Israeli citizenship.

Conventionally, the repatriation process can be divided into two stages:

  1. Obtaining a repatriate visa.
  2. Preparation of necessary documents in Israel.

The first stage, in our opinion, is the most difficult. It consists of several processes:

StepsActions PerformedHelp from the Jewish Repatriation Agency
1Collection, search and execution of documents confirming the applicant’s belonging to the Jewish peopleWe conduct a preliminary check of the completeness of the collected evidence. We will organize a search for missing papers. If necessary, we involve an experienced archivist.
2Making an appointment at the Israeli ConsulateThe procedure is carried out via email or website. We take it upon ourselves to resolve this issue. The client can only wait for a confirmation call from the consulate.
3Preparing papers for a conversation with a representative of the Repatriation Department. Filling out the repatriate form The completeness of the evidence base is checked once again. Personal documents that you need to take with you to the conversation are reviewed. The repatriate application form consists of 40 pages; we provide detailed instructions for filling it out. If any questions arise, they can always be resolved with our specialist.
4Interview with the ConsulThe most important stage of repatriation, which no more than 10% of applicants manage to complete on their own. There are many reasons for refusal. Our staff helps to model a possible conversation and thus eliminate the risk of incorrect or incorrect answers.

The result of our cooperation is the successful completion of the first stage - obtaining the coveted repatriate visa. Now, together we can begin to implement the second stage.
